Super Bad

Super Bad

Super Bad (23/03/2009) :

No, not the movie. But the original godfather of soul, the pops of funk and the man whose tunes will be played for centuries to come. He is of course James Joseph Brown, Jr. or better known simply as James Brown. I was trying to merge the modern equalizer visualization with a classic funk feel, and what better way.

"Blow me some trane, brother!"

Rhobots

Bots

Rhobots (21/03/2009) :
This was inspired by makeworldwide's introduction page. I might be using this for a new t-shirt design, or maybe a new banner for the blog. We'll see.

See with your senses, not your eyes.

Speeding Sidewalks

Speeding Sidewalks

Speeding Sidewalks (21/03/2009) :
I was working on a different car model actually (seen only by Aniq and Apeng), and might have been 20% done. I gave up, I didn't feel a connection with what I was making. Now this car, haha, I have an attachment to. This will only be for two types of people; those who instantly get it and those who don't (and by the title all should have been revealed). So if the title makes no such sence to you, then you belong to the prior group ;P

Lean, mean, smoking machine!

I won't deny it, this is an unfinished piece, so before I leave it all together I might as well post it up.

Mass Tagging

Batch 1

Batch 1 (17/03/2009):
Honestly, I was never sick of the mass tagging that has been going on in facebook. It's just that once you keep on getting the msn popup message,

"You have an email from facebook" saying,

"... has commented on a picture of you, click here..." it gets kinda annoying, especially after the 124th time. It is an honour to be mentioned and remembered by friends, and surely being tagged in one of those is a good sign of friendship. But I'm sure our friendship means a lot more than that, and thus me untagging myself from such pictures is no big deal kan. KAN.

You are the company you keep :)

I created basic models for all of them and just added distinctive features. More coming soon.

Share The Music

Spread The Music

Share The Music (18/03/2009) :
I wanted to do something with headphones, that was it :) I remember my high school days where friends would share their Walkman's cord headphones to listen to music, unfortunately headphones can't be shared.

You don't have to listen to music to share it.
You don't need to feel love to spread it.

Mun Jak

Mun Jak

Mun Jak (18/03/2009) :
Mun Jak translates to 'If Only'. I was browsing through my poster book and noticed cleverly designed anti-war posters. I was keen on making one of my own.

War brings a lot of unwanted things upon humanity.
If only I had the power to decide how things were to go about.
Unfortunately I don't.

Dirty

Dirty

Dirty (16/03/2009) :
I remember having a conversation discussing premarital sex with a lady acquaintance. She had some issues with coming clean about her sexual history with her current partner.

It's all in the mind.
Are you a tainted person in pure dirt or a pure person in tainted dirt.
You decide what you are.

Armageddon

Armageddon

Armageddon (15/03/2009) :
I've had this idea going in my head for the past year, and started stocking up on photos since. Guess I just needed a personal feel to get me going. The breaker in the picture is my little brother.

Breaking is always about control. Control of movement, expression and emotion.

I replaced the normal fill colors with brush strokes. Combining various brushes adds to the distorted effect.

Great Ocean Road

I went on a trip to the Great Ocean Road with a few friends, and used the pictures as stock.

Great Ocean Road

The Rocks (12/03/2009) : Replacing the natural beauty of the apostles with an urban skyline, blue sea with oil-tainted waters and clear skies with a grid-based horizon. I was also abusing some of my newly acquired brushes.

Salim

Salim (12/03/2009) : Salim is a nickname for the gulls, I tried to express their annoying expression I always get.

Pre 2009

Highlights of my 2008 (pre 2009) collection:

Pumpkin

Pumpkin (20/03/2008) : This is an all time favorite :) I have a fetish for chicks with short hair. Really short. And unruly. And tomboyish.

Rhokumaru

Rhokumaru 2 (27/04/2008): Yep, I took off two arms. By now I've abandoned brushing and went full on with vectors. You can see the difference in quality if compared to the first Rhokumaru.

Pinklady

Pinklady (24/05/2008) : This was a birthday present for my very good friend, Jem. Happy birthday Jem, hope you kept the poster!

Boyination 7

Boyination 7 (21/01/2009): Featuring B-boy Naz performing the flag. Yes this was January 09 but so what :P

More pre 2009 on my flickr account.

Pre 2008

Here are the highlights of my pre 2008 collection:

Rhockumaru - The Sword of Six

Rhokumaru (17/06/2007) : I didn't know how to utilize vectors back then, this was simple brush and filling.

Guitar Hero

Guitar Hero (15/05/2007) : Stock image was of me playing... well, guitar hero.

Vector

Vector'd (15/12/2007) : This would be my very first time using vectors.

More pre 2008 on my flickr account.

Welcome to Rhockart

Starting this blog seems to be a good idea at the time :P.

Graphics is one of my many great passions.

I've been messing around with Photoshop for quite sometime now. I started out on Arcsoft PhotoStudio, and was introduced to Adobe Photoshop CS2 in my 2nd year of uni, which was in 05. Since then I've spent countless hours on photoshop and enjoyed every minute of it.

My current work is heavily based on vector masks and abuse of brushes. I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and download brushes from various sources on the net. I don't credit brush authors, however if I feel that my pieces have earned a degree of respect, I'll do so. I do not have a degree in graphics, nor have I enrolled in any such course (I'm a civil engineering graduate). So don't bomb me for my amateur techniques or unclean workmanship, I don't give a fudge. I do what I do because I love doing it :)

I'll be posting most of my work here to discuss inspirations and ideas, so anyone who has made their way here, I'd appreciate comments :)

(Oh, and I wont be uploading any old pieces, just the ones I have some sentimental value. I'll be uploading my current pieces when I have the time for it)
